The Danish Traditionen Tro Jazzband
The "Traditionen Tro" Jazzband was founded in 1977 in Esbjerg, a
port on the west coast of Denmark. With a few changes the members are the same,
even today. This exceptionel "sticking together" in the band means a
very warm and exiting way of playing jazz music. The band is very busy, playing
a lot in Denmark and abroad, but you should know that they all have their steady
jobs to take care of beside their great interests in jazz music. Many clubs,
festivals and jazzfans want to hear the band again and again, e. g. the famous
"Riverboat Jazz Festival" in Silkeborg the last ten years in a row.
Unfortunately there is no single English word or expression covering the meaning
of the name of the band, but it means more or less,"according to tradition/being
faithful towards the traditions." This simply means that they like to play
New Orleans/Dixieland jazz music and evergreens in their own way, but with
respect. Hope you
will enjoy listening to the music as much as the musicians enjoy playing it!
